According to the 2026 NFL Preview edition of Athlon Sports Magazine, the Detroit Lions are expected to finish 3rd in the NFC Central Division - a very slight improvement from last place last season. And despite their last-place schedule this year, the publication still predicts that the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers will finish ahead of them and, thus, all but eliminating any chance for a playoff opportunity. But with only 7 games against 2025 playoff teams and only 2 non-divisional opponents coming off winning seasons, anything could easily happen
